'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the nail-biting dying seconds of Swansea's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter ended with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range strike from distance, and his teammate promptly hammered in the loose ball before sprinting toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with the crowd swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This completed an extraordinary comeback given the team had found themselves down 2-0 during the latter period. Amid the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win earned a fourth-round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's volley from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that distance," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the opposition who complimented the way Orient approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are very good but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they understand how to dictate and slow down a game. You can feel you're holding your own and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball between defenders without you even noticing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and focus just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a popular figure across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has quickly achieved similar status in his new home. At the London club he linked up again with his former manager, who four years ago gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a spell at lower division the Manchester club, before he departed Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without much intensity. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that maturation for his team and nation, performing well for his national side, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including two matches fixtures against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Early Days

This marks quite the ride for the player from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his parent, his father, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's sole appearance for United came in Central Asia in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of -15C. "It was a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he recalls, chuckling. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Moving On

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "The decision proved quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the time I spent there but it became apparent where I felt I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

It is the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a small coach driven by club employees, the drivers, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself a teammate, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to spend time with the lads but I'm hoping to be the next one to drive independently and behind the wheel. His teammate is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with fans on London's Central line after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
